"Big Country"

“Terroir” is loosely translated as a “sense of place” - I wanted to explore the relationship between the land and the wines that these areas produce. "Big Country" depicts the Crooked River in Redmond, OR. Together with acrylic paint, I used actual wine labels from the region to create the mountains. This vibrant piece catches your eye because of it’s colors, but makes you look closer and closer to see all the intricate labels that make up the scene. The song, “In A Big Country”, by Big Country, just seemed to fit this big expanse of beautiful land.
